Honoring a

presidential legacy

President Johnson defined our country’s most basic mission as “to right wrong, to do justice, to serve man.” We were humbled to create a look and feel befitting the LBJ Foundation’s highest honor for those who personify that mission.

the challenge

Branding Liberty & Justice For All

Each year the LBJ Foundation bestows its highest honor on those who carry on President Johnson’s vision of creating a nation of Justice and Liberty, where everyone has the opportunity to rise and those in need would not fail. The Foundation asked us to create a look and feel for the award, starting with an invitation announcing former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as a recipient.

the Solution

To brand the award, we continued with the LBJ Presidential Library’s (and LBJ Foundation’s) use of gold and opted for a black color flood to lend the recognition further elegance. We also created key art for each recipient that positioned their silhouette to face LBJ’s, alongside a quote relating to their area of dedication and a corresponding quote from a speech LBJ gave.

the OUTCOME

In 2023 we were asked to expand the look and feel for a gala dinner honoring Willie Nelson for his longtime philanthropy and commitment to family farms and sustainable agriculture. We produced event programs, custom guitar picks denoting table assignments, event signage and projected graphics, and custom bandanas for attendees to take home, and assisted with statewide media outreach. The sold-out celebration raised funds to create the Willie Nelson Endowment for Uplifting Rural Communities at the LBJ School of Public Affairs.

Past recipients of the award include President George H. W. Bush, President Jimmy Carter, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, U.S. Sen. John McCain, U.S. Rep. John Lewis, and philanthropist David M. Rubenstein, among others.
