A once-in-a-generation opportunity to partner with the world-famous Austin City Limits brand.
KGSR 93.3 FM, a radio station based in Austin, is a mainstay in one of the most musically-eclectic markets in the country. KGSR found itself with a once-in-a-generation opportunity to reinvent itself as “Austin City Limits Radio.” We were charged with creating an extensive visual identity for the new brand, aligning music lovers loyal to the ACL brand with KGSR’s homegrown fanbase.
The ACL brand’s distinct dual-line font style is well established across its platforms: a TV series, music festivals, and a live music venue. The linear look of the ACL typeface lent itself to the visual of a radio broadcast tower, which we created from the ‘A’ letterform and positioned atop the station’s new ACL identity. We then utilized KGSR’s existing blue color palette to provide consistency in the brand’s transition.
The response to the station’s national brand relaunch was overwhelmingly positive, with the Austin City Limits Radio visuals featured in widespread news coverage.
