When H-E-B opens a new store, the neighborhood rejoices. And for good reason: the #1 grocery store in the nation is a leader in the community and innovative practices.
The Mueller neighborhood in Austin is a national model for new urbanism design principles, and H-E-B was selected as the grocery store to serve the neighborhood. The store design, which includes many environmental innovations, serves as the company’s test store for environmental sustainability, and its new H-E-B restaurant concept took years to plan.
We spent a full year planning the community campaign and public relations to launch the store. We held neighborhood meetings about store design; conducted early tours with key community leaders; performed publicity and social media exposure for the grand opening; and coordinated a food media and blogger event to introduce the store’s new restaurant concept.
We secured multiple preview and grand opening stories in all major Austin media, online, and on social media.
